What is Clinical Microneedling?
Microneedling, clinically known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is a minimally invasive rejuvenation procedure that harnesses the body's innate healing response. Using an automated medical pen with sterile, single-use micro-needles, microscopic vertical punctures are created within the papillary and reticular dermis.
These controlled micro-injuries stimulate the release of endogenous growth factors, initiating a cascade of neocollagenesis (new collagen formation) and neoelastogenesis (new elastin fibers). The result is progressive dermal thickening, improved epidermal elasticity, refined pore architecture, and the softening of acne scars and fine lines.

- Enlarged pores and irregular, rough skin texture.
- Early fine lines around the periorbital and perioral areas.
- Mild skin laxity and dullness resulting from environmental oxidation and aging.
- Suitable across all Fitzpatrick skin types (I–VI) with minimal risk of thermal post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Procedure Steps
A medical-grade topical anesthetic is applied 30–45 minutes beforehand to guarantee full comfort. The skin is disinfected with an antiseptic preparation. A sterile hyaluronic acid or growth-factor glide solution is applied, and the calibrated microneedling device is passed over target zones at physician-calibrated penetration depths (0.5mm to 2.0mm). A cooling biocellulose mask is placed immediately afterward to soothe the skin.
Procedure Facts
- Duration: 45–60 minutes (including topical numbing).
- Anesthesia: Topical lidocaine-based anesthetic cream.
- Protocol: A series of 3 to 5 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart delivers cumulative dermal remodeling.
- Recovery: Mild erythema resembling mild sunburn lasting 24 to 48 hours.
Post-Treatment Care
Keep the skin clean and hydrated with pure hyaluronic acid for the first 24 hours. Avoid touching the face with unwashed hands, intense exercise, steam rooms, or wearing foundation makeup for 24 hours. Broad-spectrum physical mineral sunscreen (SPF 50) is essential starting the morning after treatment.
